Hello, I have sold an item that the buyer wants to collect. Can I agree and how do I demonstrate to EBay this has happened so they release payment? Thanks in advance.

If this item was initially listed as a postage item, and now being collected, you will have no way to mark it as collected / delivered, and no proof that the buyer has collected the item as that all important collection code is not present.
Best way forward would be to cancel the item, citing Buyer Requests to Cancel, which refunds the buyer and to relist it again as a Collection Item only, for the buyer to buy again from your eBay listing.
Let the buyer know what you are doing but be very, very clear in your messages why you are delisting, that is, it's to relist for the buyer to buy from your listing, that this is Not an off eBay sale.
Buyer then buys and pays through eBay checkout, cash is no longer allowed for a collection item, and here the buyer receives that important collection code. You scan this code or enter the numbers manually to the left of Confirm Collection, this shows the item was collected , and will release your payout sooner.

Thank you for answering. I did also get a message from EBay where they said that it would be possible to allow the buyer to collect but ensure at same time they left positive feedback on site and made statement that they had collected and were satisfied. EBay would then process a manual payment on request. I explained all this to buyer and they were content to just wait on the item through the post. I got it posted this morning so they should have it by TUesday. Thanks again for getting back with a great explanation. Ill learn lesson for future.

I think what you were told by ebay, would never have happened.
If it was so easy, then everyone could ask them to mark as delivered, even when not collected or posted. I am afraid that CS tells members what they want to hear.

Thanks John, I had the same concerns and asked for a copy of the transcript should I have chosen to go that route and have something that shows this was their instruction. tbh, it still felt like a hassle and easier just to post and keep both parties right. Thanks for input though.

I'm afraid CS gave you the wrong info there!
Feedback only releases payouts early for those which are posted, and they have to be under a value of £25.
Collection items can only be proved to be collected with that collection code. If there's no code, there's no proof of collection , and the payout is held for 14 days before release. This is aside any other holds which may be in place, if you are a new or returning seller.
This shows how essential it is to have that code, as it's the only sure fire way of receiving your payout sooner, no matter what CS says !
