This buyer bought my Samsung S4 nearly one month ago for just over £20 but now says the battery isn't holding charge - he insists that the listing should have made it clear that it was an old phone and that the battery may not perform like a new one! Really?!
The fact that it was an S4, not a smart phone and was just over £20 should have told him something?!
I believe that demanding a return after this time for these excuses is unfair, am I correct?

Well to get a refund through ebay would require a NOT AS DESCRIBED case would need to be opened within 30 days, so probably too late, BUT buyer could ask his payment provider to make a chargeback up to 6 months.
You cannot assume that a buyer would have enough technical information to know age of a phone. Every detail should be included in description.

A buyer has 30 days to raise a return request for a refund if they report not as described, and you then have to pay for a prepaid return label, and refund within 3 days of getting the phone back.
No,many buyers either don't read the full descriptions in listings, or don't understand what there buying, but sellers have to adhere to ebay rules if they don't!

Listing says "battery holds charge well".

It makes no difference if you think it is unfair, ebay will allow the case.
Best to accept it, issue returns label (at your cost) & refund on return.
For £26.00 may be cheaper to refund without return, your choice.

If it's the one you sold on 14 February the description stated that "the battery holds charge well".
The phone is still covered by eBay's 30 day money back guarantee. If the buyer opens a case for not as described eBay is almost certain to find in their favour.
