Buyer requested return when item as described

Hi there, I sold my iPhone 14 item number 8056260093 on eBay to this man who is now requesting a return since he took it to a shop and they said it won’t work. I clearly stated in the description and category it was not working and for parts. I also stated how I broke it by dropping it in water. I did say it charges still which it does and it’s stuck in a boot loop which it is so everything is as stated and if you check my messages with the buyer you can also see that I messaged him before he payed that the phone is broken and he still went ahead and payed. If there’s anything I can or you can do to prevent this unfair return please let me know. Thanks.

We are members like you, and we cannot see any messages other than our own.

If you do not accept return, then buyer can escalate to ebay, who may just refund without return.

Trying to argue first is guaranteed to fail, and having a refund forced without return.

Correct way is to accept, provide a return label, on return refund then report misuse of return procedure to ebay.

You are right to say that eBay "should" not accept the case.  Sadly they may well do so.

If you refuse the return [the buyer will claim "not as described"] then if you do not send a return label and then - on return - refund eBay may do so as the system is automated [this may be what is called "AI"?].

Many of us feel that the system is highly biased in favour of buyers.  If you do not deal with it and let eBay get involved then you are given an account defect.  Buyer may also give negative feedback.  Not fair perhaps but "eBay".

It's disappointing of course but the only loss is the £3 odd for your postage label.    @starkey2282
