Buyer cancelled order as 'wrong payment information '

New seller here....

I sold a lense, buyer cancelled order after 4 days listing reason, 'wrong payment information '.

I then cancelled order and RELISTED the item, but, what does it mean, wrong payment info?

He came up with couple of excuses before he actually asked to cancel.

Also, can I get eBay to mark him as a non payer?

Thanks.

If you allowed four days from the sale date and then cancelled for non-payment, the buyer would receive an unpaid item strike.

If you simply agreed to their cancellation request, they won't.

No idea what he meant by wrong payment info, as sellers have nothing to do with payment. Unless it was something to do with postage etc. It's irrelevant now anyway.

If a buyer asks to cancel, Ebay offer a short list of reasons - I would guess your buyer chose one randomly.

That is an expensive item for a brand new seller to list.

I can see you are protecting yourself by using RM Special Delivery but there are a lot of bad people out there So, if you do get another sale, check the buyer's feedback - feedback received and they have left for others.

If they have their feedback set to 'private', personally I would walk away.

If they leave negatives claiming items were not as described on a regular basis, don't deal with them.

Check it is an established buyer with a recent record of similar purchases.

Above all, be careful and 'trust your gut' - horrible expression but apt when selling on Ebay.
