Buyer accusing me of selling an unsealed item

i sold a 5 litre container of oil. The buyer has immediately contacted me to say it wasnt sealed, and that it could contain anything, other than the original motor oil.

I know 100% it was sealed, as I had just removed it from  a heat sealed bag to check condition and the seal, before packaging it for postage. No one else had access to it until it was opened by the buyer.

Is this a scam to try and get it for free ?

How do i contact ebay to inform them i am unhappy about this buyer?

Im not happy to offer a discount either. Ive spent 2 hours of my time selling this stupid oil. I should have just thrown it away.

Can i insist that the buyer returns it at his own expense. ?

Its an absurd accusation, as it only sold for £20 after postage costs, and any oil you buy these days costs more than that, so it wouldnt even make sense to try that.

If a case for item not as described is opened, you will have to accept the case within 3 days.  Cases are all automated no point challenging it at that point.

If you want the item back,  pay for a fully tracked return postage,  and only refund through those case details,  when the item is back with you.  You will have 48 hours to do so.

Stick within those timelines,  and your seller performance will not be affected.

If you think the refund was unjustly granted,  and the buyer has abused eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  you can appeal the decision.  I won't lie, it's not always easy,  and does favour the buyer in most cases.

This explains the appeal process:

As tressygirl says you will have to accept the return and may be able to appeal after.

I would be surprised if any carrier will accept opened 5L of oil for transport so you may not even get it back and Yodel who you had for delivery do not allow any liquids to be sent on any of their services so you couldn't claim from them.
