On 9-Dec-25, I made a small purchase from a trader. The item was not delivered. On researching, I found that the item was delivered to an address with a different postcode. I asked the trader for a refund from and was refused on the grounds that the item had been delivered (albeit to another address). I left factual feedback, which eBay later removed, to warn other prospective purchasers against this seller. I claimed a refund from eBay, under the eBay Buyer Protection scheme. In the first instance, eBay's (presumably) automated system, refused a refund and "closed the case". I then had to follow obscure instructions to access eBay by phone. In that phone call, the purchase price was refunded, but feedback removal could not be reinstated publicly, although it remained visible to eBay. I pointed out that similar feedback had survived, and I deduced that there was yet more feedback of the same kind, which had also been removed, but was still visible to eBay. I am told that eBay is now considering whether to act against the seller. So eBay's Buyer Protection does work - but only if the buyer can be bothered to go through the hoops beyond eBay's automata.
