Broken item

I recently sold an item and unfortunately, the item was broken on delivery. The buyer requested a refund from eBay and this was done immediately.
I only found this out when I had an email from eBay saying don’t worry, we’ve dealt with it.

I have never experienced anything like this before and I’m a little upset.
Can  someone explain to me what happens next? Will I get the item back? Help!

Haven't you still got the original payment?

With an eBay Simple Delivery postage label, if the item arrives broken or damaged they reimburse the buyer.

Did you have to pay for the refund or did Ebay pay the buyer for the damaged item?

If Ebay refunded the buyer then I believe they will have told the buyer to keep or dispose of the item.

You can't keep the payment and expect the item back.
