Blocked Buyer Registers A Different Profile To Maliciously Buy

A China based buyer I had previously blocked set up another eBay profile and purchased a $350 item from me, simply to disrupt my shop and let the item sit with their local customs office for weeks without collecting it.  They ignored weeks of messages from myself and customs, and as soon as it did arrive they started a return / refund request.

Although I had NO RETURNS ACCEPTED (on the eBay terms) I have spoken to eBay today and the advisor says I must accept the return and try and re-claim my sale/funds after the item is returned.

The eBay Returns Dashboard is not offering a DECLINE RETURN option, only ACCEPT RETURN and OFFER A FULL OR PARTIAL REFUND.

Does this seem like sound advice? Any sellers have similar experiences and what was the outcome?

Thanks in advance!

eBay's rules are that if a buyer refuses to pay import duty they lose all eBay protection.

But as the item was eventually delivered presumably the buyer must have paid any import duty?

If so, and the buyer has now "discovered" some reason why it is not as described, mrfi94 would seem to have no alternative but to accept the return - and probably pay for the return shipping.

If the buyer was previously blocked from bidding, but opened a new account to defeat this, this is reportable as unwelcome bidding (or malicious bidding - I can't remember the exact term). I suggest reporting this now, so that it's at least on record for eBay to consider if appealing against the decision.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. So it seems if you block a member, that block is not universal to all their profiles and in fact, contrary to eBays claim, we are not actually in control of who comes into our shop.

We then have to lose our inventory for long periods to those unscrupulous or malicious buyers and then reimburse money to them should they wish.

The Returns Dashboard simply does not provide an option to Decline Returns as eBay help literature seems to suggest.

It would be a great help and save us time and money if when you block a member that block was universal and blocked all their present and any future profiles, as happens on some social media platforms.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
