Beware scammers account

The above account is operated by scammers be careful, they tried to acquire our expensive laptop before payment.

We've reported them to eBay but the account is still active for some reason, avoid!

You really shouldn't name and shame here else, whilst this might be the case with your transaction, you must see that anyone can 'out' somebody they may not like as a scammer.

Good that you had the good sense to spot that there was something dodgy going on.

Whilst I'm sure your post is well meaning, but naming and shaming is not allowed on this forum , and a moderator will be along to remove that buyer's ID.

eBay are privy to all messages which go through their system . If they have read that a potential off eBay sale was being suggested by the buyer,  they will act, but not necessarily anything you may see.  Sanctions even temporary buying bans can be imposed.

Carrying on asking for off eBay sales, would no doubt find them permanently banned.

Their account needs to be closed down before they catch somebody out, eBay
leaving these accounts active will just result in honest people like
ourselves avoiding eBay altogether, please advise eBay management to act
more swiftly in these cases, when we are interacting with Amazon we feel
more protected against such fraudulent behaviour 👍

If you've reported them then eBay will investigate.

How did they attempt to scam you?

They put an offer in for a laptop that we were selling, then tried to get
it sent off to some sort of mailbox, they sent spoof emails from 'ebay '
saying the payment had been received and apparently we were '100% protected'
The account needs to be closed down or frozen with more urgency, the spoof
emails have been sent to eBay but the account is still able to be used,
eBay needs to up their game on these buyers before some poor person with
less experience is caught out!
