Best offer is not showing on my listing for a motorcycle?

I am selling a motorcycle and said I was open to best offer when I created the listing, but this doesn't show in the published listing. And now a buyer has messaged me and made an offer I am happy to accept, but he can't make the offer through Ebay as the option is not on the listing. I can only cancel the listing and deal privately with this buyer but that surely isn't correct? Anyone have any ideas? I cannot get any sensible answers from the (awful!) Assistant thing?!

You have received bids on your motorcycle  and once a bid is placed offers are no longer available and your sale will continue as a standard auction.

As soon as you get a bid on an auction item, the best offer features is disabled.

You will see it on your own listing, but it is not actually available to buyers.

Normally, I would tell the potential buyer to place a bid or you can cancel the listing and relist as a 'buy it now' for the interested buyer to buy at the price agreed.

Did you have to pay to list the motorbike?

Yes, I paid £14.99. So now it's not possible to accept an offer from a buyer? Seems to be unnecessarily complicated, surely a seller should be able to accept an offer from an interested buyer?

And there's no way a buyer could make an offer? As I can't now edit to add a Buy It Now, without ending this listing and starting another?

Re: Best offer is not showing on my listing for a motorcycle?

It would be unfair to the members who have already placed bids to accept offers from another member now, also you don't know how high the bid is that is currently winning it may be higher than the offer, ask the member who wants to offer to place a bid at that amount,if it's higher and acceptable you can end listing selling to highest bidder.

If you cancel and relist you will pay a new listing fee and possibly fees for cancelling the auction.

You can accept an offer if you list the item as a 'buy it now' - but you chose auction format.  So the current highest bidder will, quite rightly, expect to win the item unless there is a higher bid or, at the very least be able to respond to a higher bid with their own increase.

Re: Best offer is not showing on my listing for a motorcycle?

But you said in the listing -

" the bike is listed with no reserve and there will be lots of interest in it, so it wouldn't be fair to end the auction early, the auction will run until Saturday evening and the bike will be sold to the highest bidder."

So how would it be fair to end the auction early so you can accept an offer?
