Appeal unfairly rejected

I bought an item from a seller in California. The package arrived but it was the wrong item. The seller acknowledged the error and sent the correct item. He also said to keep the wrong item too. He sent me a picture to show the second package had been dispatched. There was no new order number but USPS tracking showed package delivered to Glendale Heights  - ebay international hub in IL. After a month the package has not arrived. I contacted ebay who said the package was delivered and so case closed. I appealed and was rejected because the package had been delivered.  Yes, the first package was delivered but not the second one. I've told the seller this and he says it's down to ebay and they must do more

I don't know what to do so would appreciate any advice. Thank you, Steve

its only the original sale/package in the transaction that's covered by eBay money back guarantee and if you opened a not received case you would lose as you needed to open a not as described case.

you will just have to wait for the replacement or turn to your payment provider for a refund.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my query. I really appreciate it. I
think I've just lost the money but maybe the package will turn up.

This is why we always advise buyers to use the money back guarantee to return and refund items, not to accept a replacement.

We hear about so many replacements that don't arrive or are faulty, by which time eBay's 30 day money back guarantee for the original item has often expired.

If the buyer still wants the item it's better to buy a second one, when the new order will be covered by a new money back guarantee.

Your best bet now, if you paid by a credit or debit card, is to see whether your card issuer can help.
