Another nail in the coffin for private sellers! How can I recoup my packaging expenses?

With Ebay's "Simple Delivery" now compulsory and imposed on us; it would appear that private sellers cannot incorporate their packaging expenses!  I sell china mugs which have to be double wrapped in bubble wrap and secured in a sturdy box - if I don't pack securely and the item is damaged, the buyer will have a bad experience and leave poor feedback.  Ebay must think these things grow on trees!  I used to adjust the postage cost to the buyer to allow for this but despite my phoning Ebay today to discuss this; they were unable to offer any solution.  I am convinced they just want rid of private sellers  - Ebay only exists today because of private sellers trading in second hand goods - not business sellers with brand new goods!

All you can do now is add a bit onto your item price.

Ebay have already added to this already with their buyer premium - I don't
feel I can add further

As said, packaging has to be incorporated in the price. This of course means ebay’s “buyer protection fee” would be slightly higher, only pennies, but all adds on to ebay profits.

On low value items, the 75p is a killer, but the 4% all mounts up. Buyers seem to think sellers should absorb these extras. So much better when sellers paid the fees, at least buyers knew exactly what they were paying.
