Another eBay postage rip-off over Royal Mail 24 & 48 compensation being halved

Has everyone noticed that Royal Mail 24 and 48 has halved their compensation from £150 to £75?

It doesn't apply to Royal Mail direct, just when you get a purchase through eBay.

They must have introduced in the last day or so, no doubt to get a higher fee for themselves from the Royal Mail and obviously at the seller's expense.

The other catch is that they don't insure 'valuables' and by that they mean jewellery and one or two other things.

This is a Royal Mail scam as if something is worth up to £150, what does it matter what it is? If it's worth four figures, surely it would come under the classification of 'valuables' but less than £150, it is hardly the Crown Jewels.

The big organisations try and shaft you at every turn!

You need to direct your vexation at Royal Mail and not Ebay.

The compensation was reduced by Royal Mail on Monday 6th October - the same day they increased some prices.

The new figure for £75 compensation is NOT exclusive to Ebay - see the link - and I am sure that Ebay have no control over RM's pricing or compensation.

If you use Ebay Simple Delivery, RM Tracked 24 and 48 are covered for up to £750.

Jewellery has only ever been insured if you use Royal Mail Special Delivery.  Most sellers of lower cost items use a tracked service and assume the item will not get lost in the post and they won't need to claim.

Annoyingly, I googled Royal Mail 24 & 48 and they are still showing £150 compensation coverage - hence my rant. If RM have changed it, it's a step in the wrong direction!
