A broken record

Hi Guys, my first time on here. A 45 record I recently sold has turned up broken, the buyer informs me. I would have used Royal mail, as at least they have 50 pounds minimum compensation.

I had to use Easy delivery with a prepaid label. I'm guessing I have to refund the buyer and bear the loss. Am I right?

Also, can I insist any future buyer only uses Royal Mail?

Thanks for any help.

If you used simple delivery and the buyer opens a claim using 'arrived damaged' then ebay covers the refund.

It's worth taking a few minutes to read Ebay's guidance on Simple Delivery.

I don't think there are any RM services that offer £50 compensation, so probably best to ignore your buyer.

However, if you sent your item using Ebay Simple Delivery, then the item is covered for damage in transit.

If you did use Simple Delivery, the buyer should start a return stating that the item was 'damaged in transit'.

Ebay will compensate them without requiring a return and you will keep the buyer's payment.
