I sold a brand new washing machine for a caravan. NEVER USED ONLY TESTED. The buyer sent back feedback that she was really happy with it. 3 weeks later she is saying it arrived full on dirty water and broken. of cause Ebay will refund her. First how the hell would I end a washing machine full of water. Eby dont care bout there sellers only buyers
If eBay turned down a case that was genuine, the buyer could sue them for failing to honour their money back guarantee. EBay doesn't give any guarantees to sellers, so the safe and easy answer is to give the benefit of any doubt to the buyer, and make the seller refund them.
Plus of course the fact that providing the buyer with a good experience is eBay's stated priority.
No-one says that forcing sellers into refunds without any evidence is fair, but the user agreement gives eBay the power to reach these decisions and we have agreed to accept them. EBay is unregulated, so there is no right of appeal to any independent appeal. This has become a very risky place to sell things.
Ebay didn't see what you sold or what was received, so if buyer opens a Not As Described case you are required to arrange topay for return postage and refund.
Ebay has no way of checking who is telling the truth but under the terms of the money back guarantee are required to get a refund and if you don't deal with it they will and you get a defect and no refund of the selling fee.
If ebay turned down the buyers request the whole money back guarantee sstem would be worthless and this is something that if you sell on ebay you have to live with.
