why do ebay allow buyer to accept an offer seller sends them but allows them not to pay imediatley

i sent an offer to a buyer and they accepterd that offer,now ebay says its sold but the buyer although theyve accepted the offer to buy did not pay immediately as normal practice. why do ebay allow this almost semi scam...when i recieved mesaage that id sold the item i got it ready for posting and just checked again on my laptop from my phone as more detail to see that ithad NOT been paid for and therefore not actually sold. why do ebay allow this thanks

Well there's no way to enforce a buyer to pay immediately,  frustrating though it is I agree,  it would entail being able to access their bank accounts to make those  immediate payments,  thankfully not allowed.  All eBay can do is to give buyers a timescale in which to pay a seller.

 

So now,  there is a new system of retireving a non payment.

 

If your buyer has not paid within 4 days, you can now cancel that order stating buyer has not paid, and your seller fee will be refunded, the item will be relisted unless you choose it not to relist.
