unpaid dispute

i bought and paid for an item , but when i received them i discovered that they were not suitable and returned them to the seller, he has received the item but now has opened an unpaid dispute against me to pay for it???? 

if he goes ahead and wins the case i will have a unpaid mark against my name, i do not want this what should i do

i should add that he has also refunded me for these Before taking out the non payment

How did you pay for the item?

If you paid by paypal then it should of shown on ebay as Paid and the seller would not be able to open a dispute.

You have not said how you paid

Was it a collection item and did you pay by cash, cheque postal order bank transfer

If you paid through ebays invoice through papal  then the item should have been marked as paid automatically and the seller would be unable to open a non payment.

They would have had to do a cancellation
