You may have no choice if the buyer opens a case under eBay's money back guarantee.

EBay will require you to provide postal tracking proof of successful delivery, or you will have to refund the buyer in full.  Attempted delivery is not accepted as successful. Buyers sometimes refuse to accept as an easy way of getting a full refund if they no longer want the item.

With luck, if you put a return label on the parcel you should get it back. If not, you will have to claim whatever compenation is available, which depends upon the postal service you used.

I do not understand how RM have lost the item.  It is just possible that if "refused" the item is on its way back [if you had a return address on parcel] or on its way to Belfast for [ver long] investigation. It should have been sent by Special Delivery [was it?] If not you are likely only to get £20 if you used 1st or 2nd class of £50 signed for.
