promotional listing fees?

Hi, I have tried the promosional listing but the fees are difficult to work out. If I sell an item at £18 and set the rate to 12% I am expecting a fee of £2.16 but it shows I was charged £2.59. I assumed they add vat on to the fee ( this making it really expensive as you literally pay twice) but that does not work out the fee it would be with vat. Does any one know how this is worked out please?? many thanks x

As a business seller, all ebay fees are + VAT,

private sellers pay 10% fee INCLUDING VAT.

Thank you but it is not re my normal fees I am asking. It’s about the extra fee you incur when you use the promote my listings.

Sell for £18.00, 12% fee = £2.16 +20% VAT of 0.43. total fee = £2.59.
Looks right to me.

Hi yes that’s it, finally got through to eBay, someone told me in eBay that vat was inc but it isn’t plus I was thinking vat was 15%!! God knows where I got that from!! Thank you for your time xx
