not getting messages to my email

Hi,

      I wonder if anyone can help. I just got a neutral feedback because I had missed a buyers messages over the xmas period. I would not have missed the messages if they had come to my email in box. Some messages do come to my email inbox, like the one helpfully telling me about the bad feedback !  When I go to account settings and click on communication with buyers, some options are on, but the ones I want to activate are "dead" they don't light up when you hover over them. I was signed in when I tried to change the options, but they were not active. Can anybody tell me how to get my messages from my buyers to go to my personal email, like my bill does, and various other things.
