hi all
i have purchased an item which the seller later stated was out of stock,i have agreed to wait until new stock arrives in uk,it will be about atwo month wait, the seller asked if it was ok to mark as dispatched to maintain ratings to which i agreed, just need to know if there is a time limit on purchase protection so i dont lose my money on non arrival of purchased item.
thank you
you will lose all protection if you wait, you only have 30 days from the initial estimated delivery date to open a case
you need to open a not received case now, get a refund, then re-order when the seller gets new stock

Yes, of course there is. It's explained clearly in eBay's money guarantee - there's a link to this in every listing. Have you never looked at it in 17 years??
The deadline for claiming a refund is within 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date in the listing. (Note, in the listing - not later, as promised by the seller.)
To learn about eBay's money back guarantee, see: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/
You only get 30 days from the expected delivery date to open a not received claim. After this time you cannot do anything through ebay and may lose your money as you will be wholly dependant on the seller's honesty.
If it were me I would request a cancellation and get my money back. You can then buy the item again when it is in stock.
