complaint against ebay

I sold an item approx a month ago.  The buyer paid Ebay.  Ebay did not release the funds to me.  I contacted Ebay Chat (the only time I have been allowed access to an actual person).  They assured me that they had released the funds in to my account.  Well ... they have not.  All efforts to contact them have failed.   It  is now 10 days later and still no sign of any payment.

It seems to me that the only reason Ebay changed over from PayPal payments is to benefit Ebay with holding onto peoples' funds and not paying them.

what does it say on that page? is the payment being held on the 21 day new seller with no tracking number option?

Thanks for responding. I have just learnt that until the person who collected the goods actually says he has collected them, they will not release the funds. This relies solely on the buyer being honest enough to say he has collected the goods. The seller is then left in limbo. Ebay will hold the funds, I believe, for 21 days. At least with PayPal I did not run into this problem.

you would still have run into this problem with a paypal payment, this isn't a 'new' thing, the 21 day hold has been around for a very long time, have you marked the item as dispatched?

The buyer collected the item in person. Fortunately, I had the foresight to ake a note of his reg number.

having his reg number won't help you, have you marked the item as dispatched (this is the same as 'collected' as far as ebay are concerned) if you want your payment you need to mark it as dispatched.

As the item was collected, I did mark it as collected on the webpage and was informed afterward that the money would be released. It wasn’t, so I contacted Ebay again some 10 days later, which is when they said as far as they were concerned, the buyer had not collected it as he had not responded. I have contacted the buyer since, but Ebay really needs a method of ensuring those who collect items keep their end of the bargain.
