EBay's money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days, and only covers the condition of an item on delivery. Both eBay and PayPal make state clearly that their buyer protection schemes are not a warranty, and don't cover faults that develop in use.
Any liability now rests with the seller. If they are a UK business seller you should in theory have the same statutory consumer rights as if you bought it from a shop. In practice, many eBay sellers don't want to know about problems. Even manufacturers' warranties are often invalid for items bought here.
You can take advice from trading standards or citizens advice. Or, consider using the small claims court or the Courts and Tribunals internet based money claim service, see: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome.
It the seller is a private seller or abroad, there's nothing you can do.
Good luck, but buying on eBay isn't like the shops. This is one of the risks of buying from unknown sellers online.
