age verification - credit card not accepted

Hi all,
I am trying to bid a set of fish knives. I know... over 18s...etc. Tried yesterday to go through the process of entering credit card details while entering a bid, and every time I'm done the website switches to the US-site (ebay.com) and tells me "couldn't find what you were looking for."
Also entered cc details into my account (I usually don't do that, for obvious reasons) but ebay doesn't seem to be able to make the connection: Tried again to bid today, and we're back at square one - having to enter card details during the bid, and then switches to the .com site and the error message. Argh.
What is going on? And how do I get this done?

Use a PC/Laptop to make the changes before placing bids ... may take a little time to update/restart >

Has to be a Monthly statement Credit (not everyday Debit) Card ...  My eBay > Account tab > Payments ... or >

Hi - thank you for that. I did try that yesterday, and waited until today to bid again... same thing. However, just finished chatting with customer service who tells me that there is a technical issue that they are "incessantly" working on to get resolved. Alternatively to contact the seller and ask them to a) make it "Buy Now," or b) list somewhere else not cutlery. But thanks for trying to help.
