Your payment did not go through

I have attempted to buy an item 4 times now. Each time using 'but it now' I have paid using paypal. I have had an e.mail from Paypal each time telling me I have authorised a payment and giving me a transaction and order number. After a few minutes I get an e.mail from e.bay saying the payment was unsuccessful and to try again. The e.bay help is hopeless, the only thing I get from that is to try again. Any ideas?

Thanks for taking the time to reply thedemon. I have purchased from this seller before and have been in contact with him in an effort to resolve. I have also by-passed Paypal by using a debit card for payment but the reply from e.bay is exactly the same - payment unsuccessful pay again.I was unaware of some of the points you made so thanks for that.

Ebay is hardly likely to be able to deal with a Paypal problem. As said there can be many reasons for payment not to go through, but ebay have no access to paypal accounts.

Thank you John1297576. I don't see it as a Paypal problem. I have successfully purchased from this seller before using Paypal. I have attempted to make the purchase using a debit card (successfully used a couple of days ago) direct to e.bay but the message from e.bay is exactly the same. I have contacted the seller who is unaware of the cause of the problem. I can buy online, not e.bay, but as I have purchased from the seller before I tried him first. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply.
