Tampered with item

I have sold an iPhone on eBay which was fully working before despatch. Buyer has contacted me to say battery didn't work so he replaced it (obviously by opening it up). He now wants to return for refund.

I am very suspicious I may not get the the same parts inside the phone I sent.

surely as he had tampered with the product I do not need to refund.

I can't see that just putting in a new battery would invalidate the Money Back Guarantee.

If buyer opens a Not As Described Case you provide a Reply Paid Tracked Label and on return you refund. Failing to do this the buyer can escalate, ebay takes over refunds and you get a defect and no refund of the selling fee.

If parts have been changed, then all you can do is use te Report a Buyer in the Leave Feedback Section. It won't get your money back and ebay are most unlikely toake any action.
