So, I sent a parcel through eBay's Packlink system and chose Hermes. I've done it a few times over the last few months and not had an issue until a week or so ago. During the week, the parcel's tracking wasn't updating and when I queried Hermes, at first, they were talking about trying to find it as it may be lost. However, a follow-up message they sent a few days later talked about having to contact "the retailer" which they explained was ebay's packlink partner, not them.
So, I'm going to contact ebay tomorrow about this as I'm thoroughly confused. However, in saying that, I feel like Hermes is fobbing me off. And of course, the buyer has opened a request which I completely understand. Does anyone have anything to offer on this Hermes/Packlink/eBay situation?
If you bought through packlink then you have to claim through them and not Hermes
See the link
I would never use packlink and just arrange my own packing
I use Royal MAil in most cases but if ( like today) I have an item that is too large for RM i use Hermes by buying my own postage on their site.
Much better than having to go through a middleman
You dont need to contact ebay
You need to refund the buyer through the dispute
They dont have to wait until you sort it out with PAcklink
It does seem when one uses any ' middlemen' to help with a sold item, that is, Click & Collect, GSP, Packlink, it invites problems.
Sell, it, pack it, sort it ..... via Royal Mail, my mantra half pinched from British Rail !
