Seller didn't post an item via company he had already agreed to.

I contacted this seller about the postage of an item he was seller (via a bid) ... it was already advertised as Royal Mail 2nd class,  I asked him to confirm he would send it by Royal Mail. 

I won the bid, and paid for item via PayPal. I also thanked him for using Royal Mail to send this item. But he used Hermes,  ihave had years of problems with Hermes as their local driver Refuses to deliver to my address.  So I told him to get it and post it via Royal Mail as he promised he would do. 

He stated he was going to fo this but doesn't like my attitude,  so he offered me a refund, before I could get back to him he contacted Ebay, who let him send me a refund.  Without contacting or speaking to me. As i would not accepted a refund.

Do you think I was out of order, to demand the item i paid for. Be sent by the company he had prior agreed to do. 

Also feel Ebay is out of order by allowing him to send a Refund without my acceptance. ???...
