Safe to Bank Transfer??

My wife has won a motorhome and the method of paying is cash on collection. The person we are buying off has agreed to deliver it, at our request, for an extra cost but, has requested payment prior to travelling up, via bank transfer, as his preferred option of paying through eBay, wasn't available. This method of payment suits us better but I am concerned about transferring a significant amount of money that isn't through an eBay method and is prior to receipt. There is also a concern that if we waited until the day he drops it off, the transfer may not go through immediately or may not allow us to transfer the whole amount. If we were to transfer prior to receipt, is this kind of transaction covered through eBay's payment protection? Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.

Beware !!  ... Motorhome may not exist ! ... anyone who makes an offer or attempts to buy through emails and messages is likely to lose their money if they proceed with this deal arrangement ... eBay do not  hold the monies/offer a Trial period/ Escrow/Collection or Delivery service for Vehicles ... Do not pay anything including requested Deposits/ Bank Transfers until you have arranged a visit to view and examine the Vehicle personally.  ... Unsuitable on inspection ... walk away with your Cash intact.

Cash on inspection/collection is the safest and best payment method for vehicles ...(or mutually agreed cleared and confirmed Bank Transfer after you have seen and checked that the vehicle details are valid) ... No PayPal payments including holding deposits should be given as there is absolutely ... No payment protection offered for Vehicles  sold through eBay Motor listings.
