Royal Mail has lost over £100+ of my sales.

Hello I have been using the Royal Mail Post Boxes to send parcels as all the Post Offices are closed, I called the Royal Mail and tried to explain this to them and they refused and put the phone down on me, I have now switched to Hermes. I am just wondering is there anything I can do to get compensation without proof of postage, I think my customers packages are still at my local sorting office as some of them have been delivered as far as Scotland and there is one that is still not delivered and is a five minute drive from the sorting office. Thank you for reading this and I hope you all stay safe.

Kind regards,

Thomas.

"as all the Post Offices are closed"

That's news to most people and the post offices.

Of course without proof of posting there is ZERO compensation !!

If you had printed your post labels from eBay then even posting at a post box the item would have a 2D delivery confirmation tracking code & as scanned through the network would show when delivered

Your only hope is to explain to your buyers that some of your parcels have been affected by postal delays in the present coronavirus emergency.

Try asking if they would kindly allow longer than usual for delivery - you can point out that they're fully covered by eBay's money back guarantee if they don't arrive, and would have up to 30 days to claim a refund.

If you have to refund them, I'm afraid that without proof of postage there's no way you will get any compensation from Royal Mail.

I am not sure where you got your information from about post offices

Post offices and Royal Mail are working as usual

There are delays as is to be expected at this time with the Covid-19 virus

Read the ebay Green box on Covid-19 at the top of most pages

As we mentioned, delivery drop off points (so newsagents, distribution facilities, convenience stores etc) are still open for sellers to send goods, and buyers to return parcels. Please do ensure, though, that you adhere to social distancing guidelines while visiting any of these sites and try and keep these to an absolute minimum.

Why havent you got the proof of postage/receipts (which have a 16 digit code for tracking)

You should always keep them at least 12 months  in case of chargeback on ebay

You should put that tracking/code on the item in your Sold section straight away

With those receipts you could have claimed for lost items

Without them then why would Royal Mail take your word for it.

Good luck with Hermes

Royal Mail is much more reliable.

Of course there is no means of claiming without proof of postage, in fact would you have any cover with proof of postage for £100.

If you could get compensation then everyone would be making claims, why bother even going to the post if Royal Mail is giving Money away.

I noticed yesterday that the Bulk Prepaid Mailbox outside our delivery office had on it that parcels could be posted, but it would be at senders risk.

I wish you luck with Hermes and their "deliveries", have you read the long list of items that they do not cover?
