Buyer has claimed part of the order was missing in the second box. There was no second box as the main item - an Android unit was in the main manufacturers box with all the leads - charger, HDMI cable, etc..
Little point in arguing about it so I've offered a refund as requested but where do I stand if the main component is not returned in the main and only box dispatched?

Where you stand is that eBay would very likely just enforce the refund on tracking proof of delivery.
Sellers often complain that eBay has still made them refund buyers who have allegedly returned items damaged, incomplete or switched for another one. At least one seller said that eBay's response was to tell them to sue the buyer.
So basically taking it to the extreme - an empty box with a tracking number would satisfy ebay. And to cap it all ebay are suggesting/insisting I pay for the return postage.
Sounds like I may as well just refund and let the 'buyer' keep the goods.
