Ebay closed off my case with a seller based in China.
Given that the item can take up to six weeks to arrive by post Ebay are failing us all as the resolution procedure is not fit for purpose.
Greater resolution time scales need to be allowed when dealing with far eastern sellers.
Hi there,
Did you send the item back by international tracked and enter the tracking into the ebay case? You are asked if you have posted it, should select that and a box appears to enter the tracking number. The only way a buyer loses a case is if theyve missed a step, ie didn't ask ebay to step in after 8 whole days; not added tracking: or opened the case outside the guarantee timelines; didn't pay by paypal account.

Luckily you can open a case from your paypal account and have up to 180 days. Use the existing tracking for this case.
To do that log into your paypal account. On your summary page at the bottom left are some help links. Follow the links to open a case. At some point paypal will suggest you go back to ebay, obviously you cant so continue with the case in PP.
