Questionable buyer

What if anything can be done about unscrupulous buyers? I have had contact with one who comes across as dishonest. Looking at their feedbacks they have left 11 negs in the last month alone surely no one can be that unlucky on ebay in one month. I refunded them partly out of fear they would leave me neg feedback and partly as it is their word against mine that their items didn't arrive and I know they would win as I have no proof. Very disappointing experience!

You did 100% right in that if you cannot show by tracking [or the 16-digit number for 1st or 2nd class packets] that the delivery has been made then the buyer would win a case.  

Block him from future buying.  EBay is said to monitor those who leave lots of -ve feedback.

Now they are saying they can't see the refund even though it has left my bank account and shows as pending in my PayPal account. Oddly it doesn't show as refunded on ebay.
They seem to be suggesting it's gone to the wrong email address. I have no control of that as now email is given on PayPal, I just simply refunded to the seller. What a pain.

You should have asked them to open a case and refunded through that. It won't show as refunded on ebay if you did it directly through paypal, and you won't get a fee credit. It also sounds as if your refund was an echeque, they take longer to clear to the buyer. You are probably heading for negative feedback anyway!

Thanks for the reply. What's odd is that I part refunded some postage to a different buyer, also directly through PayPal but that is showing on Ebay as having happened.

PayPal say this about an echeque:

A payment will be sent as an eCheque if your PayPal balance is not enough to cover the payment and you don’t have a card and a bank linked to your account.

As I do have a bank account and the refund money has already come out of it does that rule out an echeque being issued?

The sellers email address name and postal address name are both completely different. They haven't replied since my last message. What an absolute pain.
