Posting items - sellers

I've just listed and sold my items on ebay.  As I work mon - friday and am unable to get to a post office except on saturday I made this clear on my listings and said that if items were not paid for by saturday morning i would not be able to send them until the following saturday.  Two of my buyers didn't pay until this evening and I've noticed that theres a note from ebays to say that my items should be posted b Weds 23rd!  No, can do and I made it clear on my listing!

Any thoughts/suggestions?

your handling time states you will post within 3 days of receiving payment,

if you can only post within 7 days you need to use the advanced listing tool when creating your listings and set the handling time to what you can do,

if you can only post on Saturdays don't have your items ending on a Friday, as it doesn't give the buyer enough time to pay.

I can't even see where the handling time option is. I rarely sell on here and its so complex I frankly wouldn't bother again.

How much time does a buyer need to pay anyway - they can read what I put and they only have to press the pay button. TI pay straight away if I win an auction. Ebay doesn't protect its sellers - you favour buyers but most people are both so you will lose customers.

Buy anywhere else on line and you pay straight away. Ebay is wrong to give so much time to pay.

there is no one from ebay here, it's a member to member help board, we don't favour anyone!

people can bid on an auction at any time, they may not be online when the auction ends, so won't be able to pay straight away,

you need to use the advanced listing tool to change the handling time to a longer duration

I didn't know about the advanced listing - how would I? I thought an instruction to buyers would suffice. I'm a good seller and buyer. I always sell quality items and I always post the following day. My buyers had 21 hours to pay before I posted. Any other auction or online sale and you wold pay within that time. According to ebay buyers can pay whenever they like within a 7 day period and sellers then have to post within a 3 to 5 day period. Just not realistic we all the PO closures in rural areas. I think if buyers don't follow instructions then they should accept a delay.

Unfortunately no one can make buyers pay ASAP, ebay allow 48 hours before you can open unpaid case.
Most will pay quickly though.
It is the seller who sets despatch time scale after payment, although if a buyer pays quickly, then they would expect seller to also post ASAP.
I appreciate if you live in a rural area without a PO then posting can be difficult, but ebay do not make allowances & neither will some sellers.

Then the future looks bleak for ebay as more rural POs are closing. I'm actually in a town so its not that rural but still, POs are closing all over in norfolk. Thank you all for your feedback. - I guess I'll use FB in the future as you can sell on there in local groups and it seems like a lot less hassle.

Item ended last night & not all buyers pay immediately.

Your listing says you post within 3 days of payment, so unless you do this expect bad feedback.

A lot of PO's are in shops, so you can post 7 days a week, even if not collected until Monday.

Adding a note in description means nothing, it is the P&P section that buyers/ebay go by.

My item ended yesterday afternoon and I specified if buyers didn't pay by saturday morning they would have to wait until next saturday. They can give bad feedback - i won't be using ebay again.

And no, I live in norfolk - most of our POs have been shut and I as I have a working lunch in a rural area and don't leave the bulding its not an option.

You have to set the time when you post*. Not put in the wording. Your listings at least the one I looked at say estimated deliver 5/6 working days, which is going to get you severe problems.

While it may not be practical depending on where you live, there are many small post offices now that are open shop hours, Martins for example. Can be very convenient as they can be used 7 days a week from on weekdays 6am until late in the evening.

Sheringham only seems to have one PO. I am afraid I am spoilt, with 5 within two miles.

Thank you. I'm hoping that buyers can read and unfortunately there's nothing I can do if people don't pay as I've specified. Sheringham does only have one post office and it's open after I go to work and shuts before I return. Nothing I can do! Evidently ebay isn't much good if you work full time.
