I had to return an item which was incorrectly described which I eventually received a refund. However, I had to pay for return postage as the Ebay return label had the incorrect address. Ebay promised to refund the postage of £8.55. After several calls to Ebay I have not received this payment even though they insist it has been sent! Is this just Ebay delaying and hoping I'll forget about it?
Whoever originally advised you gave you the wrong advice. EBay should have sent you a corrected label for the right address. EBay never refunds postage costs when members return items themselves.
All you can do is to try again to contact eBay. I suspect that they will just keep on telling you what you want to hear, to get you off the line. EBay has form for saying one thing and doing the opposite.
EBay has no complaints procedure, which is ironic as they tell sellers that they should welcome complaints to help them improve their service. Not even having a complaints procedure themselves tells you eBay's attitude to members. You could write to their Head Office at the address in the user agreement, if you want to risk wasting a stamp.
