Paypal Payments for purchases.

I know ebay have now introduced the direct payment system but thought that Paypal was still an optional payment method for buyers.

My last purchase checkout has ebay asking for my card details with no paypal payment option.

Going into my account details I cannot even select paypal as a payment method.

This removes the protection provided by paypal and any payments below £100.00 are not covered on a card should there be a problem.

Should there now be a problem with a transaction and ebay find in favour of the seller there is now no recourse via a Paypal claim.

No paypal for me means I don’t buy from ebay.

"eBay itself may now be refusing to accept PayPal for items where paying by PayPal makes it childishly easy for buyers to fraudulently have the payment reversed."

That will be nice!

We don't know what you have bought, but look at the original listing and see what it says about payment methods accepted?

Paying by PayPal is normally still one of the accepted options, but there have always been some categories in which sellers were not required to accept PayPal, typically but not limited to motor vehicles.

I hadn't thought about this before, but now that buyers pay eBay drect, not the seller, eBay itself may now be refusing to accept PayPal for items where paying by PayPal makes it childishly easy for buyers to fraudulently have the payment reversed.
