Hi,
I'm hoping I can have some help please as I hardly sell on eBay and this transaction has been a nightmare. I posted a digital code I received as an offer with an item I bought from a retailer (I now know these aren't covered under eBay protection etc) for purchase which was bought, I couldn't send this physically as I'd received the code via digital format as well and the buyer has apparently opened a dispute with the financial institution saying it wasn't him.
I have a message from him after the purchase asking for the code which I sent as eBay said the payment was made which now they're disputing. I can't provide a tracking number to challenge the payment but I have the screenshots, I'm wondering if anyone can please help or give advice at all?
I'd like to challenge it as I've read a similar story where the seller won this situation because it's strange that he has the code via message with it being digital and I could end up having nothing. I'm not sure whether the codes been used as I don't want to check either.
I spoke to eBay a few times but they haven't been helpful at all. I just need to know how I could provide screenshots and get past the tracking number phase if possible and if I was to just accept the dispute, will I be out of pocket? I haven't received the funds yet as they're on hold but eBay haven't said whether I'll lose money. I don't want to refund the money from my own bank!
thank you
You say buyer has opened a dispute with the financial institution, you will lose this case if you cannot show delivery confirmation on top of which you will be charged a fee £14 ibelieve possibly +VAT.
Screenshots will not be accepted, you could try messaging the "buyer" to ask why they have opened a case as you have the details of the transactionand see if they will close it.
Otherwise eBay are likely to refund and you will have no item and no payment.
