Well many sellers have been using the seller hub for ages,and managed payments was introduced last year and again many sellers have used it without any problems.
If you can't adapt as so many have already done, then if you don't accept managed payments, then you will need to find somewhere else to sell as you won't be able to use ebay.
Not a mess at all, just needs getting used to.
