New fees payment scheme

Ebay keep pestering me to update my details to encompass and accept the new fees scheme they have come up with. I'm only a small time private individual and I buy and sell in equal measures. It may be that I'm being sceptical, but this new scheme does not look a good deal for sellers. It would seem that you will pay a fixed percentage of the selling price.

As someone who does most of my selling of bigger value items when the 'sell for £1 promotion' is in operation, then this scheme will definitely not be to my advantage. I think it's a retrograde step by Ebay and will enciurage sellers to do as they did in the old days and jack up the p&p to try and offset the fees they knew they would be bit with.

I would welcome the views of other members who are either in favour or against this new system, and also I would like to know wether we have to accept it or if it's possible (and more favourable) to stick with the old way.

Many thanks

You have to accept it or will no longer be able to list items for sale.

As a private seller the new fees are 12.8%+30p,previous fees were 10% to eBay+2.9%+30p to Paypal.

Promotional listings at £1 max are much better for a seller as that is all you will pay with no fee going to Paypal.

The losers are sellers of low price items who use micropayments and cash on collection sellers who used to save the Paypal element.

Increasing the postage charge makes no difference as fees are taken on the  total price inc p+p
