I was recently emailed by Ebay, asking me to update my details, seller would no longer be paid by Pay Pal, but directly into bank account by Ebay. I didn't have a problem with this, updated my details accordingly, (the only thing that had changed was my address), I confirmed my bank details etc, and that was that. Next day, I got an email with confirmation that I was now set up for this new payment method. I also got a second email thanking me for setting up a 'Direct Debit' instruction, I had no idea that this is what I was doing, the words 'direct debit' never appeared anywhere in the details that I updated. I discussed it with an online advisor, I couldn't make head or tail of their explanation, mainly because English was obviously not their first language. I tried to close my account but it won't let me do that for 30 days, as I had recently purchased something. As I tried to explain to the online advisor, there is no way I want Ebay to have access to my bank account via a direct debit, I'm interested to hear what other sellers have to say about this subject.
