Managed payment fees

Can anyone explain to me why the fees are so high.

I have just sold an item for 99p, and with the postage comes to £1.89

Ebay has deducted 61p and of cours 18p insertion fee. I am left with 20p

That looks about right, FVF percentage, plus 30p processing fee, plus VAT as you are a business seller.

It really isn't that great selling very low value items now as eBay has not replicated paypals micropayment system.

Bit confused why you are paying an insertion fee when you appear to be within your shop monthly listing allowance though, or did you go over?  I haven't checked how many sales you had, sorry.

edit - oh, probably over on the auction side of things?

Yes, always go over, I only have 50, and a lot of my sales can be low price. A collectable can be 50p upwards. Why is VAT charged, I am not registered as my turnover is too low
