Managed payment fees

Can anyone explain to me why the fees are so high.

I have just sold an item for 99p, and with the postage comes to £1.89

Ebay has deducted 61p and of cours 18p insertion fee. I am left with 20p

Thanks ebay. This sucks

That looks about right, FVF percentage, plus 30p processing fee, plus VAT as you are a business seller.

It really isn't that great selling very low value items now as eBay has not replicated paypals micropayment system.

Bit confused why you are paying an insertion fee when you appear to be within your shop monthly listing allowance though, or did you go over?  I haven't checked how many sales you had, sorry.

edit - oh, probably over on the auction side of things?

You dont need to be VAT registered to pay it.

eBay charge VAT on top of all quoted fees for business sellers, whereas for private sellers it is already included in the stated cost.  (VAT inclusive)  Hence for example, private sellers pay 30p transaction fees, we pay 36p

If you were registered then you could claim it back, but like me, you can't.
