Making a complaint against ebay

Hello all,

I had my account frozen for three days because I used the word 'ivory' in the description of a 12 hundred year old chess piece, that I had replicated 9" tall, in plaster.

The bloody automated systems they use here to make sure we don't sell ivory or fur goods, found it and my account was killed off for 72 hours.

When I tried to explain to someone about the mistake ebay had made, on the end of a phone, It was like talking to an unimaginative robot. Why oh why do these phone people

keep churnong out the company line, without using any of the God given intelligence that they MUST have. I mean, if THAT'S all we sellers can expect, what the Hell is the point in them being there. It's an insult to those of us who have given this site so much money over the years.

The first person I spoke to (someone called Cam) simply refused to acknowlege that ebay had made a mistake. The conversation went round and round in a circle.

Then they stopped taking calls, so I used the 'chat line'. That was worst. Someone called 'Ravishanker' continually lied to me about having actually read the listing. Then when they finally did and they realised I was right, they started to put me on hold, time after time for no real reason. As I pointed out to 'Ravi', this was CLEARLY a technique to try my patience and gett me off the line. That and the endless automated prewritten replies.

So now I want to send a complaint to ebay.......and low and behold.....there is NO way to make this happen. Suprise suprise. The ultimate in self defence.

If anybody knows a way of getting a complaint to the people who count which does not involve the pretrainted people who defend the wall......I would love to know it.

Thanks for reading my rant.......thefleshkrafter

t's faair to say that eBay does not welcome or have any means of looking for "suggestions"

The first thing that happens is that a "bot" finds the word ivory.  I believe that it is [or was] legal to sell Ivory in UK over a certain age but ebay's rules prohibit that

What is the policy?

I'm guessing you might have written something like "replica chess piece in plaster - ivory colour"  - it has simply been picked up.  They have made a ruling.

Simply relist - if it is not ivory - without using the word.  There is no way to change their mind.  The Customer Service agents are based in Philippines it is said and they do sometimes fail to grasp the detail of the problem.

There is a theory that if you phone at 800am you get Dublin* where English is the first language [!!] and you may at least get an understanding of the problem.

* I have never done this and it may simply be a rumour!

There is no way to actually "complain" to eBay.
