Hi, I am just wondering how to receive a refund from royal mail for an item that's been lost. I don't have the receipt for the item I'm selling and just wondered how to go about getting the value back. Royal Mail lost something before and because I didn't have the receipt for the item only my postage receipt that's all they would refund. Thanks x
That is correct if you have not kept that proof of postage you have no proof of the item being sent so Royal Mail cannot compensate you.
Keep those proofs safe for 13 months. There is a chargeback a buyer can use up to 12 months from purchase, that proof is your only safeguard here not to refund and pay a £14 ad min fee too.
For a claim with Royal Mail for a second hand item, you can print off the transaction on eBay, showing the price the buyer paid, so that is the amount you are now claiming.
