Is this a scam?

Hi

This morning when I was checking the details of an item I had ordered, there was a bar near the top saying " [image of envelope] You have (1) free gift". Seems I won an iPhone. Very sceptical but as it's ebay I thought it would be safe and followed through.

 I have been caught by a scam. It asked for £1, which I sent.  Eventually I found it's to a cosmetics "club", which seems to want to take £17 a month. I have cancelled with them (fingers crossed) and cancelled my bank card.

I wonder if I am alone (or even if it's a scam).

I've  tried to post an image but permission is denied.

You are not alone, although you are the first I have seen to say that there is a subscription involved.  You have done the right thing, now install an ad blocker so you never get caught by these dodgy adverts again.

Wise advice. Trouble is, it didn't say it was an ad, it just looked like an ebay official banner. Very confusing! Thank you for your prompt advice.

I have installed an ad blocker and it has suppressed the banner, confirming it wasn't an official message from ebay. Very confusing. Many thanks to Papso 22
