Insurance for posting items.

I like to print the prepaid labels when selling an item but only see an insurance value less than £50.  Last time I sent an item I paid extra at the Post Office for £ 500 Ist Class next day signed for. Why is this not an option via ebay

EBay does not actually provide the carriage of course and it is up to the seller to adopt a suitable method of postage.  You have to take the labelled mail to the Post Office so it will not take much longer to get Royal Mail's advice as to a suitable service.

For an item worth £200 odd I certainly would never use anything other than Royal Mail.  Their terms are totally transparent and you can even increase the basic compensation by paying extra.  Couriers do restrict the items they will compensate for in the list of exclusions and on occasions have even charged for "useless" insurance

You presumably paid for special delivery which is - I think - only available at the Post Office.
