WHy is the only option to report a buyer for non payment rather than being able to leave negative feedback.
Surely the purpose of the feedback process is to inform other buyers and sellers of the experience of trading with someone, good and bad.
If a buyer is a non payer wouldn't it be better for other sellers to be aware of their history in this respect?
You have been a member for 2 years and not realised that only positive feedback can be left for buyers (it has only been in force for OVER 10 years). Negative Feedback would not ge a refund of your selling fee in any case.
Unpaid cases work well, so long as you also set your buyer preferences to block members with 2 or more unpaid strikes.
Unless you are able to predict who may bid on your items at the last minute, negative feedback would achieve nothing as by the time they have bought/won it is too late to read the feedback.
As @pixiesen2012 says if all sellers used the non-payer route every single time then ebay would be a better place
The reason is - in short - that when a case is closed after non-payment the buyer gets a defect. With just two defects most sellers will not sell to him. Result!
the option for sellers to leave negative feedback was removed over 11 years ago!!
sellers were holding buyers to ransom and feedback was not showing true,
so ebay removed the option for sellers and introduced non payment strikes instead,
these work really well if sellers do it properly,
when you have a non payer you need to complete a non payment case to get your final value fees refunded and give them a non payment strike
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/unpaid-items.html
then add the non payers ID to your blocked list
http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BidderBlockLogin
then set you bidder requirements to block bidders with two or more non payment strikes in the last 12 months
