Hi - I sold a vintage phone to someone and in the item listing I described it as having had a crack that had been repaired but that I couldn't see the crack, it certainly wasnt visible. The phone is also 40 years old and was sent to Spain - The buyer insisted that I send it as spares with a value of £20.
When he received the phone he took it apart and said that the phone was split in two places and had been repaired and demanded his money back and that he wouldn't pay for it to be sent back to me. I advised he filed a complaint which he did.
Two weeks later and he's left negative feedback saying that I am effectively a bad ebayer despite 298 positive feedbacks and his is the only poor one.
Ebay have not paid me my money or decided if he should return the phone to me.
I'm really fedup with ebay and with the way I did not get a proper chance to explain my side of the story.
I've reported him as visolating the rules by not intending to pay - for all i know he could have broken the phone taking it apart or using it for spares.
I think in light of this I just feel like closing my account and not bothering to sell anything and give stuff to charity instead.
There just isn't any fun anymore with eBay and either sellers or buyers are out to rip one off. This guy was so rude and clearly didn't read the advert
As a seller there is no way of chasing ebay and when I asked for the feedback to be withdrawn they simply refered it to him - he said no - so I am meant to respect that decision!
Ebay wrote to me to say that the outcome was in my favour but I only received 10% of the cost so assume they wrote to him also and told him to send the item back to me.
Really dissaspointed and there is no helpline or anyone to talk too.
I am not going to bother with ebay anymore and will close my account once the item is back.
It is better to sell privately or at a fair at least you are dealing with people face to face and it's fun.
