Global shipping program.

A buyer in the Netherlands has asked me if I would send him multiple items on my active selling listings as one package, were he to win all of the items he is interested in.

I am in the UK, and have listed some of my current items as UK only, and some as Worldwide.

The Worldwide items would be shipped using the Global Shipping program.

Am I right in thinking that the Global Shipping program will not ship multiple purchases by a buyer as one package ?

Do I have any way of over-riding the program, and shipping items myself in one package, to save the buyer multiple shipping costs, in the spirit of fair eBay selling.

Thank you

As you are selling via the Global Shipping Programme you would have to post each item out individually to the Global Shipping Centre's hub in Derby and they would forward the goods on to the buyer.  The only way to get around the problem without breaking the rules so that you can send multiple purchases from the same buyer in one package would be to opt out of the Global Shipping Programme.  However, it's too late for these items - you now have no second option but to send them via the Global Shipping Programme in the manner described above.  However, you can prevent a repeat of this problem in the future if you do decide to opt out of the Global Shipping Programme as you would be free to set your own postage costs for both national and international postage options and you would be able to choose which company you posted the items with.  In addition to that you could, if you wanted to, offer buyers who purchase more than one item from you a combined postage discount and send all the items out in the same package, as you wouldn't be a Global Shipping Seller then and would no longer have to send every single item out individually if you sold more than one item to the same buyer.

In the event that you decide to opt out of the Global Shipping Programme go to your My eBay, click on the Account tab, click on "Selling Preferences" and scroll down the page until you get to the section entitled "Postage and Packaging Preferences".  The first line below that heading reads "Offer The Global Shipping Programme" and will say "Yes" next to it at the moment due to the fact that you're currently a Global Shipping Programme seller.  To the right of the word "Yes" is an "Edit" link.  Click on that link and you'll be able to alter your preferences.  Switch them so as to confirm that you want to opt out of the Global Shipping Programme and then save the updates.  From that point onwards you'll no longer be a Global Shipping Programme seller, although if you don't cancel the listings you posted before opting out of the scheme then in the event that somebody buys or wins one or more of those items you'll still have to post them via the Global Shipping Programme.  If you don't want the aggravation of doing that then cancel all of the Global Shipping Programme listings once you've opted out of the scheme and then relist them.  That way if any of the relisted items sell you can post them how you choose, including posting multiple purchases in one package, as well as offering a combined postage discount if you wish to do so.  Just make sure that you include an international postage option on your listings after opting out of the scheme, as some sellers who have opted out in the past but who have not included an international postage option on their listings have found themselves signed up again to the scheme without their permission.  If you're offering your own international postage options then this is unlikely to happen to you.
