Fraud it's Rife on Ebay

A guy came back to me on ebay messanger. Said the winning bidder was a time waster and that the item was still available. To contact him through his email DIRECT to still buy the item.

Not knowing all about ebay scammers and Fraudsters I went along with him. Cost me 50% deposit  which was several thousand pounds and of course, I lost the lot.

Ebay just say, well you should have gone through Paypal. But as the message comes through ebay messanger you tend to think it's genuine with the Item Number and all.

As just ordinary users of ebay we just don't realise that ebay is full of scammers and people trying to defraud you.

Ebay being the wonderful kind hearted warm company that it is, just tells you to go to your bank and the police. No help at all.

Of course they could solve the problem easily. Just don't give your details out to every seller when you make a bid.

I shall give ebay a little time to see if they are going to help me and if this is a problem they can overcome. If not then of course I shall have to plaster it all over Social Media about how dangerous it is to use EBAY and how unhelpful they are . "CARING" not ebay!!!

Sorry but your own ignorance is not eBay or Paypal's fault....in a court of law ignorance of the law is no defence if being prosecuted for breaking it.....ignorance of eBay rules, policies & procedures is the same

What you did was entirely outside eBay....so eBay cannot offer protection

You cannot expect protection from Paypal if you did not use their services as a goods or services payment & even if you did purchased an item exempt from their protection scheme....

The simplest solution is only to purchase an item by using the auction oir buy now facility within eBay & read the policies about how to pay....which will say that deposits are not allowed on eBay anyway....even if the purchase had been legitimate.

It is also wortth noting that certain categories are not covered by eBay protection anyway....one of the key ones is vehicles....which are Caveat Emptor in the eyes of both eBay & Paypal ....so even a legitimate looking sale on eBAy is not protected

I really do not know what you think eBay or Paypal should do in this case.....after all what you did was already violating eBay policy
